Black and white flower photography | Apricot blossom

Since I loved nature, I started photographing flowers. But in the middle of the road, I realized the importance and value of black and white flower photography.

Why do I use B&W style for the apricot blossom picture?

Among my photos of apricot blossoms, I edited this one with B&W. At first, it was just out of curiosity and for testing. I was not very familiar with b&w photography ideas and their content in the beginning.

However, later I saw these galleries and realized that B&W photography of nature and plants is typical.

But the truth was that I liked this photo very much at that time. I was delighted with the result.

When a person looks at this picture, the first thing that catches his attention is the stunning whiteness of the flowers.

This brightness is due to the contrast between the whiteness of the flowers and the darkness in the right part of the image. The high contrast is due to the proximity of full white to black right next to each other.

Was it possible for the color image to show the whiteness and radiance of the flowers to such an extent? No, it was not possible because the color prevented it. It was possible that B&W only made it. ( To watch more black and white pictures visit Amazing Black and White Photos article. )

Another point in the image is that the details of the stamens are precise. It is also caused by pure white on a dark background.

Another strange thing is the stamens in the middle of the image. These stamens are placed on the white flower in the center of the picture. But interestingly, their heads are almost black, and the stems of these stamens are darker in color than the surrounding white areas.

As a result, even the middle stamens look sharp. All these features can only be created with the specifications that were available in the B&W style.

Later I created my Instagram page. But this photo was less welcomed than my macro color images.

Many people are looking for color. But B&W’s capabilities are undeniable.

Black and white flower photography techniques

Black and white flower photography is almost a game with light and darkness. Sometimes the contrast between the two is used, and sometimes the abnormal radiance of light on the flower components makes the image interesting.

For best B&W flower photography, it may be necessary for the photographer to sometimes shoot in front of the light. Or maybe shot in an unusual light, such as a semi-dark place. Or vice versa, in front of a window from which bright light shines.

Sometimes this abnormal exposure needs to be edited. Sometimes there is no need to change, and the strange situation happens to be our leading destination.

Black and white macro photography

For macro photography of flowers in black and white style, we must use lines, shapes, and patterns. Because otherwise, we will have a meaningless picture. Do not forget that, unlike traditional macro photography, we no longer have colors.

Our tools for creating lines, shapes, and patterns in macro photos of flowers are flags and petals.

Of course, we should note that extreme macro photography can take us out of the world of macro photography and step into the field of abstract black and white flower photography.

Conclusion

Flower photography has always been a passion for me. The various colors and shapes of the plants make them an attractive subject for photographers.

But b&w photography of flowers is an entirely different world. One is amazed that two spectrums of black and white can give such a special charm to a flower.
